Lancashire NUT invite you to their annual FREE Young Teacher weekend conference.
Borwick Hall Hotel, Carnforth
15th - 17th March 2013
Click here to apply for a place on the weekend.
All recently qualified NUT members teaching in Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool or the Isle of Man are invited to apply for a place. The aim of the weekend is to give early career teachers who are new members a chance to find out more information about important current developments in education from experienced and leading figures in education, both locally and nationally. There will also be a chance to see how the Union can help you in developing your career. The weekend will be very informal and the aim is for people to enjoy the company of other young teachers from around the North West and to benefit from the comfort and facilities of the hotel hosting the conference.

The weekend will run with full board from 6.00 p.m. on Friday, (with dinner provided) until after lunch at 1.30 p.m. on Sunday. Accommodation will be in twin-bedded rooms, with all facilities. For those without their own car we will publish a list of other delegates who may offer lifts (the list will appear in the colour brochure which will be sent to you prior to the weekend). Speakers and discussion leaders at the weekend include Officers of the N.U.T, Representatives from the LEA and local teachers and head-teachers. Topics will include: Induction for new teachers, Union services and benefits, Case studies on typical problems faced by young and inexperienced teachers, Current important issues in education, Equal opportunities and much more. There will also be occasions to raise issues of direct concern to yourself. On Saturday afternoon there will be ample opportunity to relax and use the hotel’s facilities and to socialise with the other participants. In the evening there will be a social event.

For further information about the weekend contact Jane Biddle (Administrative Officer) by e-mail jbiddle@lancashirenut.org.uk.
Click here to apply for a place.
If you are accepted, you will be able to attend FREE OF CHARGE.
THe union will ask you for a £25 cheque as a fully refundable desposit - people have pulled out at the last minute in the past leaving us with quite a lot of expense and no chance to fill their place.
Unfortunately, not everyone who applies can be guaranteed a place but we will make every effort to accommodate as many as possible.

NB The activities on offer may not be those in the images (as we have a new group of young teachers planning this year's event), but they will make sure you have fun as well as the serious stuff. |
