Lancashire NUT invite you to their next annual FREE Young Teacher weekend conference.

Marriott Hotel, Preston

3rd – 5th March 2017

Apply here for a place on the weekend – and invites will be sent via email to every member ( so make sure that we have your email address!)

All recently qualified NUT members and early career teachers under the age of 35 teaching in Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool or the Isle of Man are invited to apply for a place. The aim of the weekend is to give early career teachers a chance to relax, meet with like-minded colleagues and find out a little more information about important current developments in education.  There will also be a chance to see how the Union can help you in developing your career. The weekend will be very informal and the aim is for people to enjoy the company of other young teachers from around the North West and to benefit from the comfort and facilities of the venue hosting the conference.

The weekend will run with bed, breakfast and evening meal from 6.00 p.m. on Friday, (with dinner provided) until 10am Sunday morning.  Accommodation will be in twin-bedded rooms, with all facilities.

Leisure facilities included are: heated swimming pool, steam room, sauna, fitness room (includes cardio equipment and free weights).  You are welcome to use these throughout your stay as part of the package that we have booked for you. There is also a full spa on site but any treatments would be at an extra cost to each guest.

For those without their own car we will publish a list of other delegates who may offer lifts (the list will appear in the colour brochure which will be sent to you prior to the weekend). During the weekend there will be several opportunities for you to meet informally with Officers of the N.U.T,  local teachers and head-teachers.  You might wish to discuss: Induction for new teachers, Union services and benefits. We may look at case studies on typical problems faced by young and inexperienced teachers, current important issues in education, Equalities Issues and much more.  There will also be occasions to raise issues of direct concern to yourself.
For further information about the weekend contact Ashley Care (Administrative Officer) by e-mail:

If you are accepted, you will be able to attend FREE OF CHARGE.

The union will ask you for a £25 cheque as a FULLY refundable deposit – unfortunately, people have pulled out at the last minute in the past leaving us with quite a lot of expense and no chance to fill their place. (Don’t worry if you do not have a cheque book – you can also pay the deposit by BACS transfer – refund is by BACS after attendance at the weekend; details provided after registration).

Unfortunately, not everyone who applies can be guaranteed a place but we will make every effort to accommodate as many as possible.
