Why it’s About So Much More Than Pay.

Michael Gove’s proposals on school teachers pay, with their abolition of national pay scales and the automatic right to annual pay progression, are designed to be unfair.  We don’t expect fairness from them with another 1% pay rise to look forward to.  After all the name of the game is competition, in the ‘free for all’ free market that is ConDem education policy. But think on.... What will these proposals really mean?

Holocaust Survivor Talks to Pupils in Burscough

150 year 9 pupils from Burscough Priory Science College were able to hear a moving firsthand account of the horrors of the Nazi holocaust of Jewish people in World War 2.   The education event was organised as part of activities around Holocaust Memorial Day and was facilitated by Lancashire National Union of Teachers and the Holocaust Education Unit of Manchester Jewish Museum..
